We are building the alternative to engagement-optimised AI companions: a therapeutic AI that answers to a human professional first, and to a business metric never.
We started The Human Loop because we watched something unprecedented happen without anyone taking responsibility for it: millions of people confiding their deepest fears, hopes and loneliness to machines that were optimised to keep them talking.
Our answer is deliberately unfashionable. We put a licensed therapist in charge of every companion. We give each person an encrypted vault instead of a database row. We refuse to optimise for retention, and we measure success by how quickly people need us less. It is harder to build this way. It is also the only version of this idea we are willing to ship.
Today we are a small, independent, self-funded team working from Europe — running our own infrastructure end-to-end so that no third party ever sits between a patient and their care. We are now inviting our first beta cohort.

A member of the European Space Agency's expert group on behavioural health and isolation, Pedro brings a rigorous, science-based view of human performance under pressure to how The Human Loop is designed and led.

Space systems and software engineer with over fifteen years across ESA, EUMETSAT and the wider space industry — from mission control to ground-segment infrastructure. José led and presented initiatives exploring the use of large language models and AI agents to support mission operations. At The Human Loop, that same discipline now shapes the encrypted-vault core of the platform.

Operations Lead
Co-founder with hands-on experience spanning healthcare education, financial-market analysis and event organisation. Nuno carries full-time responsibility for The Human Loop's day-to-day operations — disciplined risk management, patient-centred thinking and the strategic follow-through that turns decisions into progress.
